With the way that many people think of the church and religion we are always thinking of new ways to not only promote the work of the church but also try to engage with the community and show that church is not a 'stuffy place' where you just 'sing hymns and pray'. With this in mind we have started to put togeather a whole calendar of events for 2018. Please keep checking on our Whats On! page, Facebook and Twitter for more details of upcoming events and activities.
The end of 2017 was certainly a busy one in the parish and the various events and services in both the churches were well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by old and young. We now focus on going forward into 2018 with the same passion and momentum seen during December. We have already started to plan some events so watch this space for further updates........
In the mean time we have arranged some dates for our very popular Table Top Sales held in St. Columb Minor Church hall, these are planned for January 27th , February 24th and March 31st, starting at 10am until 2pm, for more information please contact us.
St Columb Minor Church is holding its carols by Candlelight at 6pm on Sunday with a difference this year. As we are still commemorating the 100 anniversaries of the First World War part of the service will recall the Christmas Truce of 1914 as remembered in the film Joyeux Noel. Mulled wine and mince pies available.
A lovely way to begin the final week of preparations for Christmas.
Holiday Activity Club
On 21st December from 10-1 is our holiday activity club with crafts, refreshments, drama and a short act of worship. Booking desirable for Thursday, any questions or to book a place please contact us

The Church hopes it will be the first of many calendars developed for the future.
Today saw our Annual Christmas Fayre held within St. Columb Minor Church. As always it takes many months of planning, organising and making/baking to put this event together in the hope that it will be well attended, enjoyed and also help raise valuable fund for the church.... and this year didn't disappoint on all counts!
We had the annual visit from Father Christmas which proved to be a big hit with the younger ones. The church was filled with Christmas Craft tables for the kids to make decorations etc and the hall was turned into a Christmas Market.
The day was considered a success and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. We managed to raise in excess of £2000 on the day and this will now go to help fund all of the community projects the church is involved in in Newquay as well as the upkeep of the church...... So a big THANK YOU for all who helped make this day happen and to everyone that attended.
So here ends another week and what an eventful one its been. We have been busy working away behind the scenes to put the pieces together for our up and coming Christmas Fayre, while in the back of our minds was the visit (today) from Archdeacon Bill. As many of you know we have been asking for people to spread the word to encourage a large congregation for today's visit, however it would appear that the message became a 'little' misinterpreted and social media soon sprung into life with messages of support for the church as it was faced with closure.
Whilst we were warmed by the level of support received we felt it right to try sand reassure that the church is NOT going anywhere, however we are urging for your support as without it many of the community projects that we are involved in would cease to exist. On the upside the congregation today was in excess of 120 people and the service was well received and enjoyed.
Looking forward we now have the Christmas fayre to prepare for and we have started in ernest. The church has started to be transformed, hampers are being prepared (and sold!!). We would like to take this opportunity to thank some local businesses for their support (and sponsorship) so thanks must go to Ralph & Co solicitors , Little Italy, Andrew Henwood Funeral Directors, Farmers Arms and Calco Paper Specialists.
